"What are clauses?" you may ask. Clauses are essentially rules players must abide by while battling. Clauses can restrict such things as Pokémon species, items, moves, etc. Read further on for the complete list of Standard Clauses here at EPL.
Please note that all Standard Clauses apply to official EPL Tournaments and all League-associated battles. Free battles, such as those taking place in the Free Battle Arena, are subject to players' discretion (i.e. you can choose to use all clauses, some, or none).
Standard Battle Clauses
Sleep Clause
You cannot put two of your opponent's Pokémon to sleep at the same time. Self sleep-inducing moves such as Rest do not apply.
Evasion Clause
No moves that increase evasion such as Double Team and Minimize may be used. Moves such as Sand-Attack and the Sand Veil ability are allowed.
Species Clause
No two of the same Pokemon may be used on one team.
One Hit KO Clause
One hit KO moves such as Horn Drill or Sheer Cold are not to be used.
Item Clause
A maximum of 3 Pokémon may hold the same item with the exception of the Choice items (one type per Pokémon). Only one Focus Sash per team. Soul Dew is banned.
Selfdestruct Clause
The moves Selfdestruct, Explosion, Perish Song, Destiny Bond, or any other such move may not be used if both players only have 1 remaining Pokemon. If a player uses one of those moves under this condition, they automatically lose.
Uber Clause
No Uber Pokemon are allowed. For the full list of Pokémon in the Uber Tier, check out www.smogon.com/bw/tiers/uber
In addition, the following Pokémon/items are currently banned from use (list is subject to change at any time):
- Mega Blaziken/Blazikenite
- Mega Gengar/Gengarite
- Mega Kangaskhan/Kangaskhanite
- Mega Lucario/Lucarionite (now classified as Uber)
- Genesect (now classified as Uber)
